• Principal ( Mr Danny Harrison )

Mr Danny initially graduated as a Mining Engineer, before carving out a career in Education. He completed his PGCE at Cambridge, and taught Mathematics both in the UK and New Zealand. Mr Danny managed the Boarding Establishment of a large prestigious boys' secondary school for 8 years, before becoming Principal of a Year 1-13 school in northern New Zealand (Tauraroa Area School) for 4 years. In the year of his leaving, the school achieved the highest academic results (NCEA) for a state school in New Zealand. In 2006 he moved to establish and run the Aqaba International School in Jordan, and in August 2010 he moved to the position as Principal of Azzan Bin Qais International School in Muscat. Mr Harrison played competitive football for many years, and particularly enjoys watching football, rugby and cricket! |
• Head of Secondary ( Mr Kenneth )

Kenneth is a holder of a Master’s of Science degree from the University of London (UK). He is also a member of the General Teachers Council for Scotland. After graduating as a teacher with a Bachelor of Education (Sc) degree, Kenneth taught in two schools in Kenya where he rose to the position of Head of Department. He worked on secondment to Ministry of Education and Youth in the Seychelles for four years. In 2005, he joined the ABQIS community as a Physics/Mathematics teacher and is privileged to be serving in his current position at the school. Kenneth has a passion for teaching in a safe learning environment. He aspires to see children under his care develop intellectually and embrace a culture of learning beyond the formal education. He is a firm believer in a rounded learner in whom academics and sporting activity find a smooth convergence point. He abandoned the prospects of playing for the AFC Leopards SC (the Mandela Cup Semi-finalists) for a career in teaching.

• Head of Primary ( Mr Patrick )

Mr Patrick joined the staff of ABQ in October 2010 as a teacher of English. He has subsequently assumed the role of Headof Primary. He was formerly Head of Secondary at Aqaba International School, where he was also Assessment Coordinator and Discipline Coordinator of the whole school from KG to A Levels. Mr Patrick has a BA in English, History and Geography and an Honours Degree in History. He also has a Higher Diploma in Education (Post-Graduate) and A TESOL qualification (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages).
Mr Patrick has been teaching since 1987 and has spent the last 8 years in the Middle East, holding teaching and management positions in Qatar, Jordan and now Oman.

• Head of Arabic/MOE liaison ( Ms Shaikha Awad Shetaiwi )

Ms Shaikha comes from Jordan and graduated in 1991 with a Diploma of Arabic language from Hawara college. She also received a Diploma of Teaching Methods from the same before working for one year in Jordan as an Arabic language teacher .
In 1994 she joined ABW as an Arabic language teacher , and in 2002 became the Arabic Language coordinator for the primary section . In 2006 she took over responsibility as Head of Arabic.
Shaikha is currently studying for Bachelor of Business Studies – management systems in Arab Open University – Muscat , and is married with four children. |
• Head of Early Years ( Ms Karen Downs )

After leaving school Ms Karen started training to work with students up to 18 years of age, but after completing her studies focused on younger children up to age 7 years. This lead to working in a variety of interesting roles and situations over the last 25 years, throughout the UK, Europe and America. Over the last 15 years her work took her to Turkey and Cyprus where was involved in establishing an English programme for young learners and the opening of new schools. Ms Karen has developed extensive experience dealing with children for whom English is a Second Language. She has also studied Child Psychology and Montessori Education and she enjoys cooking and entertaining in hew available time. Ms Karen joined the ABQ team in 2010 and is looking forward to learning some Arabic and about the local culture and customs. |
• Administration Supervisor ( Ms Muna )

Muna completed her secondary school education in Kuwait and subsequently moved to Jordan, where she joined a tertiary institution to study computer courses. Remaining in Jordan, she commenced her working career as Secretary to the Deputy Manager of Rawdat Al-Maaref School (RAMS) in Amman.
In 1995 she moved to Muscat, Sultanate of Oman, where she joined Azzan Bin Qais Private School (ABQ) as the receptionist. She was later promoted to the position of executive secretary to the Principal.
Muna feels her work at ABQ enables her to challenge herself to do better and improve her skills and knowledge. She holds a vast amount of institutional knowledge and is a valuable member of the SMT. |
• Registrar and Marketing Manager ( Ms Nabila )

Nabila is a Bachelor of Science graduate with majors in Mathematics.She has worked in the Corporate Department of various International Banks like ABN AMRO, Citibank and Standard Chartered both in Kenya and Oman.Her core role in Corporate Banking was that of relationship management which involved retaining/growing the asset size of existing corporate clientele and marketing of new clients. Her last stint in Standard Chartered Kenya as Head of Corporate, Coast Region, where she was also part of the Country Strategy Team, saw exceptional performance which won her an international assignment in Oman. She left Standard Chartered Oman, as a Director, Wholesale Bank, and moved to work with Iskan Oman Investment Company SAOC., (owners of Azzan Bin Qais International School) who have seconde d her the current role of Marketing, Admissions and Development of the school. |
